Doctor of Physical Therapy

“Just wait until you get to be my age…” - the most infamous statement I have ever heard as a practicing physical therapist (it partially makes me cringe).

Despite the inevitability of aging, there's ample evidence which suggests that we don't have to be victims of wear and tear on our bodies. Just like an old car that’s been well-maintained can outlast one that has been neglected over 150k miles, a well-cared-for body can remain robust through the years. The solution, however has to be more targeted than just putting more miles on our bodies with general exercise and yet more involved and intentional than leaning on passive treatment modalities.

This was a personal dilemma of mine while operating in conventional healthcare settings!

Positive long-term change oftentimes demands a fundamental shift in mindset and beliefs - about our bodies, pain, injury, and “health” itself. However, when seeing 12-20 patients a day, alongside documentation, communications, and caseload management, I found limited time and energy available to develop the level of understanding and follow through within most patients that is needed to reverse years of neglect and misguided beliefs in order to create lasting change. (Plain and simple, our modern healthcare “system”, is simply not designed to expand your physical capacity and your health so much as to manage your health issues as they arise).

This is why I set out to marry my athletic performance background with my physical therapy knowledge in order to better help those seeking real-lasting change find their way to a freer, more healthy and functional lifestyle.

I received my Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Texas in Austin and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2019.

With a background in both orthopedic physical therapy and high level sports performance training spheres, I believe I have a unique and blended skill set with principles that enable a wide range of individuals to not only get out of pain, but function at levels they never thought possible - from the grandparent who wants to stay on the go to the young athlete looking to improve his speed and durability.

I believe while the modern insurance-based healthcare system is a good go-to for some, it is not developed to provide the level of intention and long-term wholistic care and education that is needed for those looking to fully take their health & their movement into their own hands. I stepped into this space to go the distance with those who want real change. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to do it with you!
